Over the last ten days, I’ve been travelling at a rate of knots. I finished up my training through Eastern and Central Europe, and started work again in more familiar territory. One thing’s for sure though; Slovenia absolutely blew me away. I’ll be writing more about the country later, but I spent a day exploring [...]

Off the beaten track in Austria
When I was studying to become a tour guide, there was one place I just couldn’t find out anything about. It was called Grunau, and apart from finding its location on Google Maps, deep in the Austrian Alps, I knew zilch about the place until I turned up in person. When I think of the [...]
So what do you do on your days off?
Life on the Fat Loop means that you get some pretty cool places to have your ‘Coach Free Days’ – in plain English, your days off. I’ve already mentioned Cesky Krumlov and Bratislava, but recently I’ve also found myself in the little-known Wachau Valley. We may call lots of parts of Australia ‘God’s Own Country’ [...]
The fat loop
I officially have the best job in the world. Putting it out there now – after two days of real work, I’m dead-set hooked. After the training trip ended, I spent a relaxing/re-toxing five days back in Dordrecht with Paul. It’s certainly a luxury, having a European crash pad as I’m working. That week I [...]
Winterlaken
For the first time in a long time I am in a place where the temperature has a ‘-’ sign preceding it. To add to that, we didn’t realize that we booked ourselves into a hostel where you sleep in a barn. Or, to be more precise, the horse stables. I kid you not. I’ve [...]
High society
I think I made a bit of an impact on Vienna. When I was getting my wisdom teeth out in December, I watched many hours of television. On one particular day I was watching Kerri-Anne (I swear there was nothing else on) who was on location in Vienna. I’ve been excited ever since. Vienna is [...]
About me
I'm Caitlyn, a twenty-something Australian living in the Netherlands. Six years ago I crammed my life into a backpack affectionately called 'the Beast' and hit the road, anxious to see all the world's Olympic sites. Needless to say, I got a bit distracted along the way. Today I'm a tour guide in Europe, and blog about what I love; travel, sport and food.
Where’s Caitlyn?
In early May I'll be in the Czech Republic, Austria, Germany, France, Belgium and the Netherlands.
In late May I'll be in Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Bulgaria, Turkey, Greece, Albania and Montenegro.
